    • pH represents the number of H+ ions present in a solution. It is used to represent the acidity or basicity of a solution. The measured pH value lies somewhere between 0 to 14. A solution with pH less than 7 is said to be acidic and that with more than 7 is basic or alkaline. A strong alkali solution like sodium hydroxide (NaOH) has a pH value close to 14. Pure water has a pH value of nearly 7. There are some commonly identified indicators that are used to measure pH. Some of these indicators are Thymol blue, Methyl Red, Phenolphthalein, etc.
