    • Indian Engineering Services, abbreviated as IES are the civil services that meet the technical and managerial functions of the Government of India. UPSC conducts IES examination each year and candidates selected through it are sent for services. The eligibility criterion is an engineering degree (B.Tech or BE) from a recognized institute. It is one of the most sought out career option for engineering graduates in India. A candidate once selected for IES might be posted to any of the government services like railways, road, defense, public works, water, inspection, supply, manufacturing, construction, etc. Candidates from only four branches of engineering are eligible to appear for IES. These branches are:

      Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical engineering and Electronics & Communication Engineering.
