    • SOS has become associated with phrases like “Save our souls”, “save our ships” and “save our succour”, but in reality SOS is not an abbreviation for any term. It is the commonly used description for the international Morse code distress signal. The signal is three dits, followed by three dahs again followed by three dits without any spaces in between. The morse code distress signal was first adapted by German government in radio regulations and later became the worldwide standard, effective from July 01, 1908.
