    • Pollution Under Control Certificate is a mandatory document, for 2-wheelers and 4-wheelers in many states of India. It is issued after properly testing a vehicle on certain parameters like emission of various chemicals from exhaust system. Once issued the certificate remains valid for a period of 3-6 months. It is issued by respective transport department of the states in India. In many other countries a PUC vehicle is identified with a special mark (green stars etc.) to suggest the level of pollution created by the vehicle. Failure to carry a PUC may lead to prosecution under the ambit of Indian law in many states.
