    • The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is the agency of the United States government. It takes care of the country’s civilian space program. It was formed on July 29, 1954 and was preceded by NACA. The headquarter of NASA is located at Washington, D.C. The objective with which NASA was established was encouraging peaceful applications in space science. One of the most famous achievements of NASA has the Apollo moon-landing mission. It was the first instance when a man landed on the moon.

During the start of the cold war both USA and erstwhile USSR were trying to do better than the other nation. Russia sent a rocket to space before USA could and it badly hurt USA, failing behind USSR. The nation decided to invest heavily in space mission and it formed the genesis of the world’s most famous organization. It was formed during the reign of President Dwight D. Eisenhower with the aim being more civilian (peaceful space ventures) rather than military. The official website of NASA is nasa.gov.
