    • The Central Bureau of Investigation agency is the premier investigation agency in India. It was formed on April 01, 1963 and the headquarter is in New Delhi, India. It comes under the Government of India, and it is the official Interpol unit of India. Almost all the important criminal cases in India are referred to CBI for its investigation. The preceding agency for CBI was Special Police Establishment (SPE) which was formed in the year 1941. DSPE Act 1946 is the act that empowers CBI with the legal power of investigation. Along with the National Investigating Agency (NIA), Directorate General of Income Tax Investigation and the National Intelligence Grid (Natgrid), Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) is also exempted from the purview of Right to Information Act (RTI).
